no pumps, all gravity and siphon. But I might put a pump on it anyways.

I'm impressed, it works quite well. It's a nice little setup. I can add 5 stations at a time for 6 bucks plus media. I also made two flood tables, 36 -4" net pots, and with those two reservoirs I only have to add 5 gallons to top off the main flood
JeffL on Friday 05 June 2023 - 00:06:41
I got the garden finished, save drain covers that I will pick up tomorrow. It's a pretty cool setup, a 30 gallon flood on 20 plants with 2 square feet of top root space per plant. I haven't measured how much media each station will hold, but it's less than a bale of Coco Tek each, more like half a bale.

When all the other rocks are failing, even with a bailout, it is great to know we trust in The Rock. And if He is with us, who can be against us.

Thought this was a great passage... what's up JeffL sorry I missed the show
Psalm 94:20-23 (King James Version)
20Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?
21They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
22But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.
23And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.

God gave us Physics to aid us, though figuring lift force, counter balance weights and such are not usually attributed to us smokers. :-)

I'm going to be moving the tobacco plants a few towns over, so I get to set up a new outdoor grow.
I think I'm going to try and design a flood and drain system that doesn't need pumps, save a circulatory pump for the reservoir. I think it will work, gravity is our friend!

It's the city tap water. They put something in it to raise the PH so stuff don't grow in it, along with chlorine, etc.
You can put all the stuff you want in the dirt and water, as long as the PH is 5.5 to 6.5. I'm crazy about it, I check everything everyday.
mark on Saturday 23 May 2023 - 07:54:43
Is your water from the city or a well?
mark on Saturday 23 May 2023 - 07:53:36
I have never checked pH, that is until last weekend, when the guy at the local hydro shop convinced me that I had to. Bought one of those $5 kits and found out my soil was right where I thought it was. LOL

Jesus came to set us free.

I got 96 Virginia Golds, and 46 Turkish. None of them are bigger than 3/8". I have PH problems with the tap water. I spent 20 bucks on a water filter casing, ten bucks on charcoal filters, and the PH went up. So now I have to either find a chemical filter that fits the casing, or fix up one I have for a primary...

I think I'm gonna grow about a hundred of them. I got more seeds coming, I ordered more last week, thinking the other ones were no good. So I'll sow them as well.
JeffL on Friday 08 May 2023 - 15:43:48
I moved them into a rapid rooter mat yesterday- way too early to transplant, and I kind of cooked them today in the heat, but if there still around tomorrow, they'll make it.
I also see a bunch coming up in some other dirt now too; so it just took them about two weeks to sprout
JeffL on Friday 08 May 2023 - 15:41:21
yes!
yesterday, I saw a bunch come up in a bit of peat that I watered with "orange water"; about 150 drops of squeezed orange to two cups. I was just messing around when I did it, but it worked.
mark on Thursday 07 May 2023 - 20:41:36
Any sign of sprouts?
Sulfur will lower soil pH, BTW
And I concur regarding the growing of this herb that God gave us.

tested the soil today; PH 6.5 I've read that's too high for tobacco. I'm wondering about what is best for the tobacco to reduce it, so I sent off a letter to the seed guys, to see what they say. I'll watch them for a few more days, and wait to hear from them before I try more.
lol! I'm impatient. I'd have 3" tall pot plants by now...
I finally found Origen's commentary of Romans :) -or I mean, what's left of it, what has survived the ages. And it's just a "preview", I still need to buy the books. But I finally found a translation of it online for free. I'm happy. My readings of the Early Church Fathers kind of stopped when I came to it. I didn't want to move on from Origen's stuff without going through that commentary. I wound up spending my time looking for a transltion if it rather than reading in the Church Fathers. But I found one now. I'm happy:)
One more day till election. I wonder how Prop 19 is gonna go. If it passes, we've got our work cut out for us. It's got an achille's heel that can potentially make the penalties worse than what they already are.
“You have rejected this message; you trust instead in your ability to oppress and trick, and rely on that kind of behavior. So this sin will become your downfall." -Isaiah-
Prop 19 was designed by people who want to make money. Money is the primary motive behind it. "sellouts" designed it. It doesn't set us free. And given the discrepancies in taxation, life could become much worse for potsmokers. If it passes, I'll run with it as best as I can, but I fear we'd be running the wrong way down a 10-20 year dead end road. All of our work will be for nothing.
I can't believe I voted NO, but I did. And I think I made the right decision. It doesn't set us free, not in the slightest.
If we focus on the FDA, we can make a significant impact. That's where we need to hit them, and we need to hit them hard and don't stop until they reschedule.
can't believe I voted NO. But I did and I think it was the right decision.
Anxeity-depression-ptsd should all qualify, but I'm not sure. All I remember about Michigan was fighting forced blood tests (per Jerusalem council)
-that's why we wrote Prop 215 "for any illness", because we knew they would try to discredit qualifiable conditions.
Be careful in Michigan, They've got some of the most vicious drug sentencing patterns in the whole country. Do your best to follow the law, as best as the Lord allows you to.
I live in michigan and was told by a counsellor I was a good candidate for medical marijuana. But can I get it for anxiety disorder or depression or P.T.S.D.? i know i can for cronic pain, which I also have. But I'm wondering about the other conditions.
"There are a lot of people speaking the truth with no love, and there are a lot of people talking about love without much truth" - Shane Claiborne on his book The Irresistible Revolution: Living as an Ordinary Radical
ask yourself, what does it profit you to hang out with people who are bent on following cultural values instead of the Word anyways? If congregations aren't sensitive and loyal to the Word of God on this, they are weak and will compromise any time the world comes against the Scriptures.
notwithstanding, even in this error, they're stiil a cut above the secular world that brought us this prohibition to start. Weak and sick, there's still a hope of their repentance, because those who believe will not perish.
Interfaith Drug Policy Initiative has a list to that nature, [link]
But I know of no Christ centered congregation that will not take offense at a pot smoker. The stigma itself shatters any chance at trust and confidence within the Body, and as a result, potsmokers are alienated and detached from the congregations, just like we are in soceity.
it was a lonely world for Abraham. I myself have decided to just stay away from the Churches, because the Churches themselves get attacked by gossip slander and rumor, and they are divided and destroyed when the subject comes up.
Books, study helps, commentary, dictionaries, recordings of sermons; you can grow in knowledge and draw close to Christ, but the Churches don't want us there, save to try and convince you that abstinence from pot is what God wants from you.
Corporate worship and strong relationships are what we lose if we bring the subject up.
