You've suddenly found yourself buried in debt and think filing for bankruptcy is your only answer.

Take the time to look at before making that decision.

Unwanted debt can feel debilitating and limit how you live your life. You can free yourself of high interest credit card debt or enormous student loan payments by securing a debt consolidation loan. Whether you owe a few thousand dollars for unexpected medical expenses or have over $30,000 in credit card debt, there is a company out there tailor made to help you get out of debt.

A debt consolidation loan is money that you borrow at a low interest rate and use it to pay off your higher interest debts. Other services that are a available include enlisting a debt consolidation company to help you get your existing loans reduced without borrowing any additional money. These companies specialize in helping people get out of credit card debt (and other types of unsecured loans). They act as the middleman in negotiation with your creditors to get fees and interest reduced. Because they deal in bulk, creditors are willing to work with them. These companies charge you a fee to use their services.

Many debt consolidation companies also offer resources to help you stay out of debt in the future. Some have tests you can take to see the warning signs in your lifestyle to know if you're heading right back into debt. Paying off your debts by using a debt consolidation firm is preferable to filing for bankruptcy. Check out the many sites online that offer debt consolidation loans and services.

ALERT: DEA Attacking Medical Marijuana Patients
11/14/01 Dear DRCNet reader:

The following important medical marijuana alert has been forwarded on behalf of the Marijuana Policy Project. Please forward this alert widely to your family and friends in the United States, or tell them to visit:

Parable of Persecution - Words of Wisdom from Benjamin Franklin
Due to the perceived wickedness of the drug culture, the war on drugs has been unanimously supported by the church. What we fail to see is that the church is responsible, for we have 'thrust them out of our tents and exposed them to all the evils of the night in an unguarded condition'. That is why God rejects no one until the day of judgement and Jesus accepts all. For you can not love what you find unacceptable, and rejecting a part is rejecting the whole. Keeping from sin is not what makes the road narrow, loving like Jesus is.

The Stones We Throw Have Now Become Bullets
I have been visiting pages of the pro-family, anti-drug user sites. They think marijuana legalization will be bad for the family. What about the family of Tom Crosslin? What about Rolland's son? Was the prohibition of marijuana good for their families? Did these men deserve to die? What gives these groups the idea that people deserve to be punished for their use of marijuana? From the Bible? No indeed. Do they care? That remains to be seen.

Editorial: Family Research Council's 'Victory' in Supreme Court Ruling on Medical Marijuana
"If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it probably is a duck. If it does not walk like a duck or talk like a duck, it probably isn't a duck."
What exactly is FRC?

Report on the State of the Art
Mr. Schimelfenig posted this report on MapTalk, the mailing list for MAP, Inc. He graciously consented to it being posted here.

The Media Awareness Project is one of the most effective organizations of the legalization movement. Unlike most organizations, the leadership of MAP is visible involved and accessible.

Father John Clifton Marquis on the Futility of Drug Laws in *U.S. Catholic* May 1990 (p14)
"Drug laws are a moral issue. Fifty years of drug legislation have produced the exact opposite effect of what those laws intended: the laws have created a tantalizingly profitable economic structure for marketing drugs."

Press Release: UK Politician to Seek Arrest of Possession of Cannabs
A North West Euro-MP is planning to seek arrest for possession of cannabis in a protest aimed at supporting the imprisoned owner of Britain's first Dutch-style 'coffee shop'. Editor's NoteTo the UK's 50,000 arrests for possession of cannabis last year, the US had 646,042 arrests for simple possession. May the US politicans that support drug reform go to just as great lengths on behalf of their cannabis supporting constituents.

Steve Kubby's Probation - Cruel and Unusual Punishment
I believe that sentencing me, when I am medically disabled and suffering from terminal cancer, two conditions that threaten my life, for misdemeanor possession of a mushroom stem and some tiny cactus buttons, not only needlessly endangers me and burdens my family, such a sentence is a violation of my Eighth Amendment protection against cruel and unusual punishment."
